Mania how to deal with a family member

My brother has struggled with mh for years also alcohol. He has been diagnosed with bipolar but refused to take any medication. He is manic at the moment on a high but ranting raving and putting allsorts on fb. He is in his happy place. However he is contacting my parents who are in their 70s and don't need the stress and giving them a lot of grief. He will not listen to advice about getting treatment and taking meds. He feels he is not ill.
Any advice?

Be there for him when he crashes

If you think he is a danger to himself or others, you can contact emergency services and have him assessed with a view to sectioning him, but if not, you can’t force him to see his GP or comply with medication, unfortunately.

Be there for your parents too. Learn more about bipolar so you can help your parents understand the mental illness your brother has and how it is affecting him, and them.

Sounds like your brother is self medicating with alcohol
