My 14 year old has just been referred. I was wondering what to expect

They will vary but most follow a model of 3 years of intervention, with a keyworker (usually a mental health nurse), psychiatrist then optional input from psychology and occupational therapy. Should likely be quite intensive eg fortnightly contact at least.

My dd was referred by CAMHs a few years ago now. They were helpful on the whole.

She had a MH nurse who visited weekly to help with strategies for both me and dd.

Dd was reassurance seeking constantly and the nurse helped us to manage that better.

She had weekly clinical psychology sessions. Although frustratingly, they didn't work well as dd had to go to the office. It was just too stressful so she couldn't engage!

Dd had symptoms of psychosis and she has autism and anxiety. There didn't need to be a diagnosis of psychosis to access their support.
