Has anyone tried this?
I have been told this will help with my awful anxiety.

I’ve used it for anxiety and it’s brilliant. Would definitely recommend

It does help with mild anxiety in my experience. However if your anxiety is bad, you may want to book an appointment with your GP as there are more effective things they could prescribe to get you over the hump.

My family have used it for a while to great effect. Even a young teen who is struggling with anxiety about everything is feeling positive benefits, he’s much more smiley and chatty.
However it is a nightshade and is contraindicated for several auto immune conditions including, RA, Hashimotos and Lupus. It doesn’t seem to clash with many prescribed drugs, but do check.
Anxiety medications work better long term if you are also having some kind of therapy, just putting that out there.

Mide7 that’s good to know. Did you get any side effects from the Ashwaganda? I am always apprehensive to try anything new as I have IBS and don’t want any extra gastro symptoms!
Neilsfavouritechilli I really would like to find an antidepressants/anti anxiety med which works for me but they seem to make me IBS so much worse.

PerseverancePays thank you, that’s interesting to know. I have tried various meds but they mess with my digestive system. I’ve also had endless CBT which sadly hasn’t helped and am currently seeing a psychotherapist but wondered if the Ashwaganda could take the edge off things even though I know it won’t be as effect as an AD but right now any relief of any level would be great.

I understand. Don't feel like you have to answer but is it a general feeling of anxiety you're experiencing or is something specific around a particular thing. If it's a general thing then herbal/vitamin supplements can be really effective. Magnesium supplements alongside things like Kalms and rescue remedy have worked for me before (though I don't know how they interact with IBS or other meds). If there is a specific trigger then counselling as a pp mentioned could be more useful.

I would try it. Family member was having a massively traumatic time and getting no sleep past the first couple of hours. She said after four days she was sleeping through and was then in a much better place to process her trauma. I wish Ashwaganda wasn’t a nightshade. I’ve been trying Cordyceps as an alternative, but I don’t think its like for like.

It’s a bit of both for me. I’m under stress as I help my dad care for my mum who has Alzheimer’s but I also have IBS and get so anxious as my symptoms are quite bad but obviously the more I stress then the more IBS symptoms I suffer from, it’s a vicious cycle which I do need to stop but if I take anything and my ibs gets worse then I get more anxiety, argh!!

I should really try it but am a little nervous that it’s a nightshade (I didn’t realise that) as I’m not great with some but I won’t know until I try.

Bless you, it sounds like you have a lot going on. Give it a try and hopefully it will help, and not flare up your IBS.

Neilsfavouritechilli thank you, hopefully it’ll help somewhat 🤞
