Hi I have just started setraline after feeling very low. If I'm honest ive felt bad since oct 2019 but i kept on telling myself I'd be ok.

It reached a point where i couldn't carry on like it so i spoke to my doctor. This is my 4th time on anti depressants. 1st age 19 2nd after my 2nd child..3rd age 44 and now 49. I plan to stay on ot longer this time as i stayed on for 5-6 months last time.
Does this mean anything, should i just stay on them indefinitely as I have suffered over worry and stress.

I am very worried about weight gain.

I’m on them for life I’ve been told. Severe depression and anxiety, plus a psychotic disorder. I take sertraline, aripiprizole, haloperidol and lamotrigine. I wouldn’t worry about taking them long term if they work x

I have been on them constantly for 10 years - not always the same type or dose though.

6 years and I have no intentions of stopping them neither does my doctor

I've had four separate courses, the last was the longest as I acknowledged I tend to come off them too early. Don't worry about that though, just see how things go first.

My 3rd bout currently. I don't think I'd be able to function without them in all honesty.

I'm not really sure... I've tried a few over the years. Not sure how much my current ones actually help. I'd take them for life of need be.

At least five separate prescriptions for months at a time. I've been taking Agnus Castus for literally years. Think they help more tbh.

I'm on my sixth course of them and my Gp now agrees that I'm on them for life. It's pointless getting stable, coming off them to just go downhill and have to start again.

I have been medicated since 2006.
Pretty uncommon being from India
I did experience weight gain on paxil but shifted to Prozac and was able to reduce weight.
It's been 16 years on antidepressants and honestly they make me balanced.
I got married which i was worried about since the stigma is huge in India.
Thankfully, my husband and my in laws are supportive. Some of my friends are in them too.
I did try to come off them 3 times but went back on them.
I also have twins aged 4 and i conceived while being on them.
In my opinion there is nothing wrong if you take them indefinitely as its there to help you.
I personally don't mind taking them for my entire life.
