Hi all

Have namechanged for this as will be outing if anyone knows me.

Today I went to A&E for chest pain (for context I'm 24) they were very thorough and did 2x ecg, took bloods and measured d dimer and Troponin, did a pregnancy test and had a chest X-ray all came back clear/normal my blood pressure was raised but they have accounted that to stress of the situation.

I was very recently diagnosed with anxiety - I always knew I had it but reached breaking point on Monday and they have attributed my chest pain to that.

Now I have always suffered from health anxiety and I'm trying to keep myself calm and measured that they've done all the tests and spent lots of time listening to my heart etc and if there was anything sinister it would have been picked up.

How do those who have this cope, I'm really struggling and just want some reassurance!

Thanks in advance

I didn’t want you to go unanswered and hope someone more experienced comes along. It does sound like it’s down to anxiety and not anything sinister. I hope you’re able to rationalise this and get to a better place in your mind.

Bumping for you too.

I worry about my health but I try not to let myself spiral. You did the right thing getting checked out.

I hope you find a coping mechanism that helps you.

Keep rereading your own words.

Thank you all. I know it sounds silly. Woke up this morning with a slightly aching leg and have spiralled again. DH keeps reassuring me and reminding me I did an awful lot of work walking and standing around yesterday and I am allowed to have aches and pains without it being sinister!

Perhaps that’s the way to go when you get symptoms - ask yourself could it be a normal thing to have these symptoms, so I know people who have similar and it’s all fine just annoying.
And then, once satisfied that it’s run of the mill stuff, allow yourself to forget about it?
If you still have whatever symptoms reassess in say four days time or one weeks time, whatever you think, and see if still there?

That could help you take note of symptoms but disregard ones which you deem run of the mill sore legs from walking, sore hand from where I fell, sore eyes from wearing new makeup etc. But keep ones you cannot explain on the radar for revisiting at a later date?
