No deep sleep- help :-(

Have any of you recommended ways to increase your deep sleep? I'm feeling wretched as my deep sleep is so poor. My Fitbit records less than normal all the time but frequently none at all. Those days following I feel even worse than normal.

I'm on Sertraline and HRT, Sertraline for an ongoing work situation that's undoubtedly adding to the problem.

I really feel desperate to get more good quality sleep. I exercise regularly, do hobbies, listen to ocean waves going to sleep and regularly resort to Dozol.

I was having issues with deep sleep whilst taking sertraline, I was at a point where I could wean off of it which has made a huge difference, I'm not suggesting you stop taking it of course but I sometimes find knowing the reason for something helps, I also started taking vitamin D, and magnesium tablets which have helped overall with energy levels

I went on a sleep workshop ran by talkworks and they said that ditbits are unreliable and cause sleep anxiety.

If you have work stress would a worry tree approach help clear your mind? images.app.goo.gl/Es5jw78qbCW4b3eh7

Take Sertraline in the morning rather than the evening as it is known for messing with your sleep.

You could also try a guided meditation track to fall asleep to. I use ones on Amazon music by Jason Stephenson as I find his voice soothing.

My last resort is playing a soothing sing on repeat all night. I find I Can't Make You Love Me by George Michael effective.

I have a fitbit that also says I don't have much deep sleep. I started to get worried about it, then realised it wasn't accurate as one rubbish night of insomnia the fitbit said I had been sleeping when I hadn't. Don't worry about it, and I hope you feel better soon. X

@MomOfCritters unfortunately there's no way I could come off Sertraline as I also have OCD. I take magnesium nightly and VitD too, but thank you, I do appreciate your recommendations.

@blackteaplease that's interesting about Fitbit accuracy. I suspect mine is accurate because the days that I'm barely able to function correlate to the zero deep sleep, before I've checked the sleep log? I've downloaded the worry tree image, thanks!

@nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut I take Sertraline in the morning

@clarepetal I'm not sure it's just a don't worry situation- I'm waking up as well, not able to go back to sleep for ages, and barely functioning some days. I'm not just obsessing about a low measurement on my Fitbit, the insomnia and lack of quality sleep is having a detrimental effect on how I (don't) function. Just not sure how to improve it..

I have had insomnia for years and have recently had cbt for anxiety coupled with the workshop I mentioned. My sleep still has ups and downs but on the whole has improved this year. May be worth considering?

I hope you find a solution. Insomnia sucks
