Any found sertraline or other drug to just work immediately?

I've started on sertraline for anxiety/PND and although I'm only 3 days in, I feel amazing. All the literature says it takes a few weeks to work but I felt immediately so much better. I'm so full of energy and positive, I've been smiling and chatting to the children, don't have seething rage towards my DP and I've left the house voluntarily. These are big changes.

I'm now wondering if that is in some way wrong, could it be affecting me too much...? Confused Anyone else had this experience?!

Could just be the positive effects of having taken the situation in hand - you’ve taken a great proactive step and feel better for doing it.

I wondered about that. I do feel positive about the future - this could be genuinely life changing for me and my family. I haven't felt that way for a long time.

Yep worked straight away for me but I take it for PMDD which it’s known to work quickly for.

gunnersgold · 18/11/2021 12:17

I don't know but it's great that's it's working !

whereswaldo · 18/11/2021 12:19

I absolutely had the same experience

tintodeverano2 · 18/11/2021 16:29

It worked immediately for me too.

tintodeverano2 · 18/11/2021 16:30

And, two months down the line, still feeling good. The GP said I'd need to be on it a minimum of 6 months, but I'd be fine taking it forever!

mij66 · 18/11/2021 16:35

It worked straight away for me too best thing I ever did!

SomethingBeginningWithX · 18/11/2021 17:13

That's all really good to hear! Thank you all.

It's placebo effect. It drops off after a week and is replaced by a more gradual steady improvement. At least that's my experience. I've tried about 6 antidepressants and it's happened with all of them so guessing it's a normal occurrence.

Whataday21 · 19/11/2021 13:34

Me! But I wonder if getting it all out at the GP was what really helped.

Purplecatshopaholic · 19/11/2021 13:36

Sertraline works for me but defo took a while to ‘kick in’. I am just glad for you that you are feeling better. Long may that continue op - Sertraline has changed my life, I really hope it helps you too

Willowrose63 · 19/11/2021 13:46

Worked straight away for me too! Probably some of it down to actually taking action/placebo/ who cares, it's working! Smile

LadyCatStark · 19/11/2021 22:30

It kind of over worked for me for about a week, I felt almost manic. Now it’s settled down and I feel… normal, or what I assume normal feels like.

Littlemisspebbles · 20/11/2021 22:55

I've tried very antidepressants and I'm finding sertaline is working for me better than others.it was It was increased a few months back and the higher dose age took while to kick it but I'm feeling a lot happier. Don't feel I want to come off sertaline anytime soon.am returning to work on Monday after 5mnths off with depression

I take Sertraline for anxiety and OCD. Like other posters say, it has changed my life. My only regret is that I didn’t start it sooner. I’m not sure I noticed a difference straight away, but definitely by a month or so in (I started on 25mg and upped to 50mg after a fortnight). I feel like the old me - someone I’d almost forgotten existed. So glad it is working for you too!

edited to add, I know I’m on a low dose, but the difference is like night and day.

Am wondering if I should swap Mirtazapine for Sertraline. Have been on it for a year and feel lower than ever
