Raising transference with therapist

Has anyone done this and found that it's worked out OK?
I've reached a point where it's difficult to move forward without explaining how important she is to me (and I hate the term transference, because it feels as if I'm responding to something very authentic in her), but if she doesn't respond in the way I want her to, it will just feel devastating and really shaming. I'll have to stop therapy.

Yes, I have been through this. I have a complete admiration for my therapist but realised that it needed discussing. It wasn’t easy to bring it up but I am glad I did. It is common and really a natural part of the therapeutic relationship. I felt awkward and I think he may have been a little uncomfortable but he dealt with it so professionally - it has helped me move on and I can now talk more freely.
I do still think he is wonderful but I am comfortable in the relationship.
I would certainly raise your feelings - it is normal and what is the alternative- if you don’t talk about how you feel the barrier will always remain.

Thanks phoebe - you’re right. There isn’t really an alternative. I’m glad things worked out well for you.
