My lovely beautiful and intelligent daughter is struggling at the moment, she is a student and is finding living in a shared house very difficult. She is on antidepressants but not sure they are helping. She likes her course but is quite lonely. She's quite a unique individual and not always the easiest but very insightful and funny, super bright but finds personal relationships very challenging. We've both been wondering fir some time if she could have ASD. How could we go about getting an assessment? I think it would help her a lot if she had a "reason" for her difficulties and could maybe access help. Thanks.

A visit to the GP in the first instance. You could go with her?

Does she have any hobbies? Interests? I'm a woman with ASD and my interests are very niche but I've found a good online community or two which has helped me a lot.

@FortunesFave thank you yes I'll suggest the GP, she's at uni a long way from home so not easy to go with her. She's very interested in politics, but no real hobbies as such.

I'm 23 years old and hoping on a diagnosis for ASD too, as I find social situations very difficult and any change sends me into panic. I have been like this ever since I can remember. I hope things get easier for your daughter.
