I have GAD. Severe GAD.

I have also recently started a new job. I never told my new employer the details
Of my anxiety, although did disclose I have it and downplayed it a lot.

This week I feel unwell. Really unwell. Don't know what to do as I'm speaking to my Doctor tomorrow and I have a feeling she will
Sign me off . What do I do? Tell my employer? Leave my job? I am due in on Wednesday.

I am
A mess and I'm
Lying here awake at 3.40 in the morning feeling awful.

Please can someone help me.

I've been there since beginning of September and have already had one day sick.

I never take time
Off and am
So conscientious.

I think I need to leave the job. I really do.

I think you are catastrophising because of your anxiety.
It's great that you are seeing your GP. Ask her to review your meds to see if anything can be added/tweaked in order to help. Also ask advice on talking therapies and how these might help and whether you can be referred.

I don't know if this sounds weird but if you research this, it will make sense.
The thing that brought me out of a two year illness with depression and anxiety was learning various breathing techniques. It started out by merely helping me 'in the moment' but I carried on and I genuinely believe it was the one thing that got me well, over a period of six months. It was like hitting the reset button on my anxiety levels. Without it, I would still be in that dark hole of depression and anxiety.

I don't know what sort of company you work for, but if you have an HR manager you can talk to, and the details of your conversation would be private, that might help? Starting a new job can be difficult, but it's important to disclose, you should get support it's the law. You are protected, they shouldn't discriminate against you, so don't feel bad about yourself.

I have a lot of depression, and anxiety too. Here are my tips, you might think them mad, or not?

Mindfulness - it's so simple. It might seem daunting to get into, but it's slowing down when you can, thinking about each individual action, slowing what you can. Even just taking 5 minutes out of your day, look at the sky, try and find anything that isn't what's being rammed down our throats, fresh air. There are loads of books on mindfulness, but I really recommend "Washing up is good for you", which is a book of stories of people's lives that have improved by just stepping back. I know the title sounds ironic, but it's really good.

Healthy diet - so important, for you, your family. I know we are all being told this is good, that is good. Some stuff we eat is really not good. I will not tell you what to eat, but if you work out what food is good for your body, and cut out all the stuff that you know is really doing you harm, but you do it anyway, it might help? What you put in your body is so so important, it helped me when I was struggling, to completely change my diet, bit by bit.

Just a few ideas that might help you @ohmyitshorrible I hope this helps you, there are ways to change, and things that can help. I know it can be overwhelming, but life can change
