Best apps for meditation

I wonder if anyone can recommend any sort of meditation programme for beginners? Either an app or a website or something?

I know some are costly but I did want to try before making a big purchase.
Did anything work particularly well for you?

Thanks Smile

simplehabit.com
This has a number of free meditations. I used the free ones daily for nearly a year before paying monthly for extra/new ones.

I like headspace and use it a lot. I also use Calm. I pay for both but I think both have some free meditations that you can try.

There's a good series from Headspace on Netflix, if you have it.

I use an Australian one called Smiling Mind - it has a really nice interface and a lot of very short guided meditations as well as some longer ones and some specialist programmes eg sleep and work - all free. Have been using it a lot recently doing a short meditation as kind of emergency first aid for anxiety and it has definitely been helping.

Ahh brilliant! Thank you so much for these recommendations! I'll have a look through all of them! Really appreciate your responses xx

Calm is good.

Plus it’s available in tonnes of languages.

DominicRaabsTravelAgent · 03/09/2021 17:29

I use insight timer as well. It's free and if you are doing guided meditations you can search for ones around the length of time you've got.

DominicRaabsTravelAgent · 03/09/2021 17:30

Plus check if you get one free through your employer. I know a couple of Nurses who get a headspace without having to pay.

I say this all the time on these threads Smile but Jeff Warren's How To Meditate course on the Calm app is brilliant! It's 30 days long, with a 10 minute meditation each day. I really found it life changing, so it's something I'm always quick to recommend.

When I first joined Calm I got a free trial period, so maybe see if you can get the same? If not, I have a free guess pass you can use, if you want it - just pm me x

I like headspace. You can get a yearly subscription for less than the usual cost if you join Anxiety U.K. (it's free with the membership). I did try Calm and although it had loads of lovely extras, i found the American voices a bit jarring.

DoggyMumma · 03/09/2021 17:38

I use Calm and Ten Percent Happier. I wouldn't be without them, love the sleep meditations.

MissL85 · 14/09/2021 09:14

Headspace is excellent. I got a year's subscription free with work.

horsefairmare · 14/09/2021 10:06

I recommend Insight Timer too. I have used it for years. It is free to use and there is so much choice.

Tesco grocery app. I often space out for 20 minutes trying despararely to work out what to have for dinner all week.
