How do you know when you are no longer depressed?

I was prescribed antidepressants almost a year ago and have been taking them every day since. The GP never actually said the word depression to me but I had had symptoms for at least six months before speaking to them. The symptoms have improved (though I still have my off days), however the cause (the symptoms developed after a difficult life event) is still there and I am hoping to start therapy soon to deal with this. I still feel a lot of emotional pain but I am much more able to function and to manage daily life than I was when I started the medication. How do you know when you are not depressed anymore, as opposed to 'just' feeling bad and needing support after having gone through something difficult?

I was prescribe them but I couldn't take them for more than a week cause they made me physically sick and health visitors wouldn't leave me alone I hate talking about my feelings. I've just kind of pushed it under he rug and learned to deal with it. From the sounds of it I don't think you're depressed. We all have down days and feel crap. Being a mum is hard.
Just because you feel things and have negative feelings doesn't Allways means depression it's life things happen amd we have emotions. Obviously if it's unbearable amd quite severe and constant then yea take medication but I feel we shouldn't just take it cause we feel a little down. This is why I didn't bother. I eventually learned to cope with my emotions instead of resulting to drugs.
