Coming off citalopram (and Cerazette) - multiple failed attempts

I wonder if anyone has any words of wisdom (as my GP is of the school of thought that as long as you do it over week or so you won’t have any issues)? I’ve been on citalopram (20mg or 10mg, currently 10) for over 10 years since suffering PND. Whenever I’ve tried to come off I’ve ended up giving up as I become really tearful and low. The tearfulness has been the problem because it makes working and school runs so hard - the slightest thing will set me off. I’ve tried tapering slowly with a liquid form, but even that hasn’t worked. I have read about ‘hyperbolic tapering’ but when I asked the GP he was dismissive (see above).
To complicate matters I am also on cerazette (mini-pill) for PMT. I really want to come too due to side effects. However it does work in that it has greatly eased my monthly mood swings (very severe PMT).
Not quite sure what I’m asking! Has anyone experienced similar difficulties giving up citalopram and overcome them I guess? Thanks in advance Smile

I'm in the process. Went from 10 to 7.5mg citalopram. Did the cut when I was in a good part of my monthly cycle.

So far I keep falling asleep in the middle of a day, cried at a song, and now have a horrendous pmt headache. Not sure when I will make the next cut.

I've started a probiotic which I feel has helped keep my mood up plus daily walking.

Just googled hyperbolic tapering. I bought a pill cutter.
