Would antidepressants make any difference?

I often feel quite down about the state of the world, particularly how climate change will impact my (and others') children throughout their lives. Is there any point going on antidepressants when so much of this is out of my control? I take action about this stuff where I can and that helps, but just feel overwhelmingly helpless.

And if you're worried too about climate change too - how do you carry on and stay positive for your children? It breaks my heart.

I just remind myself that I'll be dead before I see any major consequences and the next generation won't know any different as they will grow up in a different world than we did.

I worry massively about the state of the world but try to tell myself it's too big for my shoulders & I can only do my best while I'm here.

I've never had antidepressants but the thought of dulling my active brain about this sort of stuff is quite appealing

Obviously it won't affect climate change but it will affect your brain. Gp should be able to assess if you'd benefit & what dosage would suit
