Citalopram dreams had calmed down, now back

Hi - pretty much the title really! I've been on citalopram a few months for depression, it's been a huge help and I know and accept that the weird dreams are a common side effect.

What's confusing me is after struggling with sleep and dreams for a month or so, maybe a little longer, they calmed down about a month ago and I was sleeping much better. Now the dreams have restarted! I thought it was due to not sleeping well in the hot weather, but it's now cooler...and no luck. I've been on the same dose for months and nothing else major has changed.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the dreams calming down then recurring??

Well last night I dreamed I was helping Michel Roux Junior and my old boss in a 'biggest & best sandwich' competition. We made a 12 foot long, eight layered baguette with ham, cheese, mustard mayo & rocket. The opposition made lobster & avocado with hollandaise sauce but we're having trouble slicing their bread. The cats woke me up before I found out who won, but we were doing well in the taste test.

So, yes. The weird dreams are abounding. Again, no real idea why. Unless it's the longer days as I tend to dream slightly less weirdly in the winter?

I love the dreams. Mine are erm, very realistic Grin

iklboo that made me laugh! I'd vote for your sandwich and I'm glad you were doing well in the taste test Grin
I drove into another car last night whilst parking, made cookies, saw a parent, and a few others I can't remember...there were definitely at least five distinct dreams though. They don't bother me too much themselves, but I get less quality sleep which means I'm tired/napping more. If I woke up refreshed I wouldn't care about the dreams at all!

DumpyDonkey Wink mine are too but I've only had one where that's been a benefit...most of the others are utterly random!!

The dreams are the best bit! Sorry thats probably not helpful and sometimes they are pretty disturbing.

A recent dream of note was that Simon Cowell was in cahoots with some alien force and he was trying to kill me. Its ok though because i escaped on a digger with my dog!

I find i dream more if i forget to take my tablets (often). Ive been on ADs for over ten years.

What dose are you on? It may need a tweek if you aren't doing as well

Thankfully I don't have particularly disturbing ones, I just feel like my brain doesn't get a chance to switch off!
Thank god for dogs and diggers, eh Grin

I'm on 20mg - started on 10 as I was nervous of side effects and the dreams only appeared once I moved to 20mg but like I say, did settle after a while. I've been on medication since about February and on 20mg since maybe end of March? The difficulty with tweaking doses is I genuinely feel like otherwise I'm doing really well. More energy (other than tired from non restful sleep, but that's "legit" tiredness rather than depression lethargy), back at work after time off, interest in hobbies is back, etc. It's just the bloody dreams Hmm they're well worth the benefits, but if I could keep the benefits and remove/reduce the dreams that would be ideal...
