Has any tried coming off beta blockers? I'm scared for when I do in the future.

Right now I'm taking 5mg on Bisopronol every morning because I have a fast heart rate. I am hoping that with exercise I can bring my heart rate down and will be able to stop the beta blockers in the future. I have read that beta blockers are really hard to come off of as they make your heart go wild when stopping them and that terrifies me. I am already scared of my own heart rate now (resting 90) it absolutely terrified me. Before taking the beta blockers my heart rate was 120 all day - nothing medically wrong so no idea why it was so high :(

I also take 5mg of Bisoporol every morning.
I have done for 5years since an episode of atrial flutter where my heart rate got over 250bpm.
I've had no further issues and since taking the Bisoporol my hr when resting is around 60bpm.
I have never been advised to reduce the Bisoporol or stop it despite no further issues with my heart and tests showing my heart is 'normal'.
Bisoporol can be taken long-term and I'd be happy taking it for life.
It also helps with physical symptoms of anxiety so alleviates a lit of my worry.

Why the rush to come off the Bisoporol?

I'm betting your hr is so high due to anxiety.
You're in the trap of worrying about your heart which increases your anxiety and increases your hr.

I'm also guessing you are constantly monitoring your hr which feeds the cycle.

I think your hr will naturally reduce once your anxiety is treated.
Worrying about the Bisoporol isn't something I'd be doing at the moment.

I just would absolutely love to be medication free. I do have anxiety and I have a Samsung smart watch that probably does feed my anxiety which I am on the waiting list for CBT for. I'm just scared my heart is going to give up. Can Bisopronol cause my any harm. I know it sounds silly from my first post but I'm terrified of my GP stopping the beta blockers and my heart just shoots back up. Xx

Bisoporol, as I'm sure you know, is heart selective.
Bisoporol will protect your heart and keep it in rhythm, keep your hr in check and plays a part in lowering your bp.
Drs will not just suddenly stop this drug although some may suggest a smaller dose to wean you off it in the future but this is unlikely to be asked whilst you are dealing with such anxiety. Very unlikely I'd of thought as the Bisoporol will be helping keep your physical anxiety symptoms in check and as they say there's nothing wrong with your heart it seems you're on it to curb the anxiety symptoms.iykwim.
Drs say there's nothing wrong with my heart ( the flutter was an apparent one-off) but it's never been suggested I stop taking it as I'm very anxious and Bisoprolol helps my physical anxiety symptoms ( racing heart) therefore it's needed.

Helps keep my physical anxiety symptoms in check

I understand. Hopefully I can remain on it until my anxiety is better and I have done enough physical exercise to reduce my RHR xx

It's a bit like coming off antidepressants. As long as you don't rush it, its fine. You just reduce the dose very gradually over several months and wait until you have no withdrawal symptoms on one dose before you reduce it a little bit more. It's people who reduce it quickly over just a few weeks or skip days who tend to get bad withdrawal. I've come off propranolol and several different ADS and been fine.
