Stupid question, where do I go to get help? Trigger warning.

I'm almost 50 and have suffered with my mental health all my adult life but managed to get through by myself.
On Tuesday night I got very drunk (at our caravan with my husband 2 teenage sons, my dad and his partner) I told my dad's partner that my grandad abused me, she helped me tell my dad, lots of tears but my dad was lovely as always, we came home last night leaving my dad and his partner there to process things.
But I need counseling but don't know how to go about it, I don't have much money thanks to covid and I need a female counseller.
Had anyone been through this and how do I go about it and what actually happens during counseling as I'm sure it's nothing like it is on TV .

Hi. I'm a mental health nurse and have worked with lots of women in your situation. I would suggest starting here napac.org.uk

If you're struggling with your mental health I would also suggest going to your GP, if you haven't already.

Well done for talking about it. That's a very courageous thing to do.

Definitely see the GP. I'd recommend you look at www.bacp.co.uk/ for an accredited counsellor in your locality.

Did you manage to get through to your GP? I hope they were/are able to make that next step as easy as possible.

No appointments left so I will try again on Monday.

Does your GP surgery have an app with the option to book appointments? Might be worth checking, if you haven’t already. Our does and it’s easier than speaking to a random pick of the receptionists and it allows you to add a brief note regarding what you want to discuss. Sometimes you can grab a short-notice slot if there’s been a cancellation too.
