How to enjoy being on my own without getting in my head?

Just that really- whenever I have any time to myself, a day off or whatever and I'm on my own (it's unusual as have husband and toddler) I'm sort of unable to actually enjoy it.

I think it's because I start getting too 'in my head' and I overthink things and get morose. It's annoying because Id really like to be one of those people that's happy on their own, but end up really on edge!

Does anyone else get like this and how do you manage it?

I'm very like this. It tends to happen when I'm doing mundane things like the ironing, or even when doing creative things like patchwork quilting which don't particularly occupy my mind. Listening to a podcast or an audible book during those periods does help, however. So does going out and about, now that we are allowed to do so.

I was thinking about this today. For me its about switching off. So that might be watching a movie or show or giving myself a period of time to do a project, whatever I fancy. Music definitely helps.
