Hi ladies,

Hope you're having a nice Tuesday. 😊 I have posted before because I have been struggling with anxiety. I've been doing everything I can for it; mindfulness, exercise, etc but have also started cbt and counselling. Today my counsellor suggested that anti depressants is probably the best option as I'm still ' stuck' on anxious and counselling would work better alongside antidepressants.

I have quite a fear of them, have heard they can make it worse before it makes it better. Does anyone have any advice? Things I could maybe ask the doctor or things you wish you knew before starting? Thanks so much xxx

You could look up the different types but the doctor will probably suggest one. All of them have side effects to a degree but its finding the one that has the most least side effects for you. It can help to start on a lower dose for a week. Some people find taking it at night helps lessen side effects.

With Sertraline I found I had to take it at literally the exact time every day. Any more than 15 mins difference and I was up and down in my mood. Setting an alarm is good. With Citalopram it doesn't seem to matter as much if its not exact.

My CBT therapist suggested similar.

Doc put me on sertraline, lots of people do find they get worse for a bit but I didn’t at all. Just felt slightly sick for a couple days. I am on 50mg and doc told me to break them into 25mg for the first 4 days to reduce side effects. I don’t have to take it at the same time at all, but I take sometime in the evening.

They have massively reduced my low moments. I am not different beyond being a bit more stable.
