Will social services be involved?

On Tuesday my partner attempted suicide by taking a paracetamol overdose. He was admitted to hospital and was treated and kept in overnight so they could monitor him. He spoke to the mental health team and was discharged yesterday afternoon.

I'm just wondering if social services will be involved as baby is only a month old and if so what will they do?

Thanks in advance for any replies

I wouldn't have thought so, I can't see any reason for anyone to think your baby is at risk.

It must be terribly difficult for you at the moment though, if you feel you need help coping reach out, sounds like you might be looking after everyone at the moment.

I work with older children as a teacher and I've only ever known SS to get involved when a child is clearly at risk or a family needs support. There's a tier of support called early help that is entirely voluntary but can be really helpful to get families through a difficult time.

They might see if you need any support as a family but involvement with the child, I doubt it. The baby is not being neglected, nor is he or she being endangered by this suicide attempt. Are you coping OK with caring for them both? If so then there really isn't much for them to do but offer support or maybe respite if needed? I take it he didn't do it while in sole charge of her?
