Hey everyone! I've been in citalopram for two months now (one month on 10mg and one month on 20mg). i was prescribed them for panic disorder and mild ptsd as it was getting so bad that i could barely leave my bed for days at a time.

however, although i can feel my mood improving, i still feel sick nearly all the time - which is scary for me as i've had severe emetophobia since i was a child.

i know this is a physical symptom of anxiety but is also a side effect of citalopram. has anyone else experienced similar? and how long until this nausea wears off, as it's becoming pretty unbearable?!

I tried citalopram for about four weeks when in my early twenties. I hate how they tell you that it gets worse before it gets better.
Because when I was taking that rubbish it messed with my sense of depth perception. Objects would seem closer or further away. My GO completely invalidated me and just told me that this was not a symptom. However the issue stopped as soon as I quit the pills.
On the other hand I was later prescribed amitriptyline. It was a godsend, but highly addictive so they only ever prescribe it to you in bursts when you're going through particularly rough patches.
A family friend has been taking escatolpram (sp?) - which is basically the same as citalopram - for decades and is not completely dependent on it in order to function.
In the end I dropped everything and went travelling which was all the therapy I needed, in my case.

I'd get your GP to swap you to a Benzodiazepine that you take whenever you feel a panic attack come on rather than taking continuously.
