What type of counselling for work stress?

For DH, he's gone through the NHS route and did a stres management course then 1 on 1 CBT for quite a while.

The techniques are helpful and he does thought challenging etc, as well as all the other good stress management behaviours: mindfulness, exercise and so on.

He's much better overall but it's now like certain work situation have such bad associations it all crumbles. E.g. someone handing in their notice, which is always going to happen with a large, young, ambitious team. It's like he needs to get to the bottom of some really tough previous times to move forward.

He doesn't think more CBT would be beneficial as he knows all the strategies and would just be paying to practice them. I don't know much else about this sort of thing, do you just look for a standard counsellor?

Obviously a stress free job would be lovely but he's always found it tough even when he was entry level, it's just his nature

I had counselling with someone from an Acceptance Commitment Therapy background. It was really helpful. The book on it is called The Compassionate Mind.

Hi @Parkandride I don't have the answer for you but I'm sure some therapists will be able to help with work related issues. Maybe have a look online what is offered locally or ask friends for any recommendations. I wonder if he would benefit from some kind of coaching to help him either move forwards or find workable techniques to apply to stressful situations. Some employers offer employee assistance programmes EAPs. Could be worth seeing if he has access to anything like that which might offer counselling. Good luck
