I'm overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for a millionaire who was suicidal because of how she was treated by those around her. I think it's great that they can see past her wealth and understand that just because you have material privilege, you're not necessarily happy.
Now, please, let that support trickle down to those of us who aren't (multi) millionaires, those of us with rather less material privilege and who don't look quite so nice on camera too. I've been suicidal and reached out to have the person - very close relative - blank me. I've been told to just get on with life and stop being sad. I've been told I should be happier more often. I've been told everything in my life is fine (actually it's very much, objectively, not).
I've also been told not to talk about it because it's not something people want to hear. It puts a downer on things. And I'm not even taking here about suicidality, I'm talking about depression caused by very challenging life circumstances.
So I do really hope that all these people who listen to the difficulties faced by and actress and her prince husband and feel massive empathy for them, can extend those feelings to people in their own lives.
