Does anyone have experience of using this long term but only as and when needed? I've been given 10mg, which is low, but do you tend to get used to it and need higher doses for the effect? Do doctors even prescribe it long term for anxiety?
It does nothing for my longer term depression and anxious thoughts obviously, but for work meetings/presentations where I was having panic attacks because I was terrified of the physical symptoms making me unable to speak (vicious cycle) they have been like magic the couple of times I've taken them so far. I'd say it was the placebo effect at 10mg but I know I started to panic though though when I started speaking I was calm as anything. I'm curious as to whether this will last!

Yes, I've been on it for around 8 years. Not as much as I used to mind but they're handy to have. I started with 40s and they really did help me lead a normal life. Just as and when you need them.

I've just been prescribed this to take "as and when" for my anxiety but I really wanted something to take daily as it's the anxious thoughts I can't control as well as the physical symptoms. Does anyone take propranolol daily

You can take it daily. It's just not one of those drugs that you have to take daily in order for it to work properly.

I hate taking any sort of medication and reluctantly take propananol when I am really anxious.

It helps but does give me side effects; I get a really upset stomach. Lots of wind and a dicky tummy. Happens every time I take it.

GP has now given me 10mg as I was on 40mg and the hope is that it'll eliminate or at least reduce the side effects.

I take the sustained release 80mg every night along with my Sertraline.

The propranolol keeps my heart rate nice and low, around 60 bpm instead of 100.

I have been on propranolol for about 3 weeks and take 10mg in the morning and 10mg in the evening every day.

My GP gave me the option of either just taking a tablet when I felt anxious, or taking it twice a day, every day so I have the continual effects of it.

I chose to take it twice a day, every day and the difference it has made to my life has been wonderful.

Does anyone gets headaches/pressure/fuzzy head as a side effect to these? I had an ocular migraine that turned into a headache a couple of days ago and today just achy pressure in my head. When I looked up side effects it said they're used to stop migraines not give you them! Anyway will raise it when I have follow up in a couple of weeks but just wondered if anyone else had experienced it or if it might stop once I get used to them...

I sometimes get a feeling of pressure in my head and body. It doesn’t last too long. I don’t know if it’s the propranolol that causes it.

Ive taken it every morning 2 tablets
I don’t really see much difference though:-(
