CBD for depression and anxiety

I'm considering trying CDB oil to help with mh, I'd rather not go down the antidepressant route if I can avoid it but it feels like I'm at a point now where just getting on with things isn't working. I've been researching it's use online and seen mixed reviews and evidence.

So, trusty MN, any experience with using CBD?

Hello,
cbd is the best thing I ever started on, it has made a huge difference to my life.

There are so many brands and types that for newbies it can get very confusing, but you need a full spectrum oil.

I use supreme CBD, they're one of the only companies in the UK who publish their full lab reports and who sell pure full spectrum cbd at doses that work

If you have twitter, find them on there it is owned by a boxer. You can buy through their website, but they do social media deals.

I started on 1500mg, then went to 3000mg and this month I've moved to a 6000mg

They also do gummies which are 10mg full spectrum and give a great lunch time boost.

majesticallyawkward · 02/02/2021 09:16

Thanks @DewDropsonKittens I'll check them out.
How long did it take to feel any effect? And do you have any side effects?

Following.

DewDropsonKittens · 02/02/2021 09:26

It took around a week of consistently taking it for it to start to work, a few of my friends have started on the 1500mg with gummies and found it has significantly lowered their anxiety.

I take a higher dose for pain management.

The only side effect i had was taking too much to soon. You have to start out with half a dropper a day.. then move up to 1/2 AM and 1/2 PM just before bed.

zippityzip · 02/02/2021 09:32

@DewDropsonKittens Really interesting. I've been trying to research CBD oil as a last ditch attempt for a family member with cancer. Would you recommend this brand for that?
I don't want to get her high, but I want it to work. Any news articles online where people claim it cured them don't name the brand or I'm just dumbly looking at the millions of online sellers with know knowledge of what I'm looking for.
Sorry to hijack your thread OP.

majesticallyawkward · 02/02/2021 10:27

@zippityzip you can't get high from cbd, it doesn't contain THC which is what gives you the high.

I have seen things that say it has benefits cancer patients but should be discussed with the doctor treating before taking. I've come across some Facebook groups for cbd users while looking at the brand @DewDropsonKittens recommended that look great for info, you might find these a good place for recommendations specifically for cancer. Have you/your relative mentioned it to their doctor? I know not all embrace alternative medicines but there seems to be a shift happening where medical professionals are accepting cbd and alternative options.

My mum uses it for pain management for arthritis (after her gp refused to help because she's still mobile and they don't do proactive treatment... the logic there is stunning!) and she says it does help her with it.

There is no THC in CBD. So no high, I have found that it improves pain, sleep and anxiety massively.

I have even come off of some medications I was taking due to improvements in my pain.

I know lots of people that have been to Holland and Barrett/ boots and brought from there but seen no difference this is because of the types of oil mixed in.

A full spectrum oil, such as supreme uses the whole plant to create the oil base and uses the full cannabis system. Whereas high Street use a hemp oil which doesn't create a full spectrum oil.

It is important to read lab reports when selecting a company.

LizFlowers · 02/02/2021 11:58

Did nothing for me.

Smoking a joint might help. Or use a bong if you don't like tobacco. I'm not advocating that, just read about it.

I agree about not having antidepressants. They mess with your mind big time so you end up worse.

username4214 · 02/02/2021 12:03

@26DewDropsonKittens how long does a 30ml bottle last?

DewDropsonKittens · 02/02/2021 16:12

@LizFlowers what brand / dosages did you use?

@username4214 it lasts me 4 weeks exactly, alongside a small gummies that I have one a day at lunch time

The body is made up of areas that are respondents of cannaboids. By using full spectrum, full plant based oil you activate those receptors and the cbd targets them

username4214 · 02/02/2021 16:14

Oh wow, that's very expensive at £80 or so a bottle plus £25 on Gummies. I looked up the brand. Thank you though, I'm glad it's working out for you.

DewDropsonKittens · 02/02/2021 17:30

@username4214 if you buy through social media it is much cheaper. 1500mg £45 and gummies £17.50

That sounds a bit more reasonable! Thank you, will take a look.

@LizFlowers what brand / dosages did you use?
....
If you mean CBD oil, all sorts. I tried several.

Abkbjbjb · 02/02/2021 18:44

Following as would love to start it myself, currently having chemotherapy for breast cancer and have heard great reports for chemo side effects. I have also done a bit of research into the THC and would consider taking it after my chemo....some say it kills the cancer stem cells, chemo only mops up the actual cancer cells, it's the stem cells that can cause metastasis...recurrence etc

I’ve taken CBD oil for anxiety and it’s literally been life-changing for me.

I take CBD gummies (Starpowa) as the oil upsets my stomach. I have quite a sensitive stomach though. If you don’t, you can save yourself a fair bit of money by using oil instead.

I take the 5mg gummies to take the edge of things, 15mg if things get really bad. They are expensive, but I don’t take them constantly. I might take them for a week or so, if I feel like things are getting out of control, but the rest of the time I just take them as and when I need them, so a bottle lasts me quite a while.

*@LizFlowers* you've possibly not found your dosage based on your reactors.

CBD can be used for depression and anxiety because it has fewer side effects than depressants. CBD also interacts positively with serotonin receptors in the brain. Serotonin affects several body functions, including a person's emotional state and a sense of well-being or happiness. Maintaining a balanced serotonin level is often an important therapy for people with depression. You can order from an online store (say, I usually buy it from online-weed.net/) and try to overcome depression. I ordered an oil there -- for other purposes, though. I liked it.

No issue with CBD (my first dog was called Spliff!) but why not tackle the underlying causes rather than slap a sticking plaster on an infected wound?

@dane8 Yes, anxiety can be genetic or environmental or (possibly) an imbalance in brain chemistry. But if it's severe enough to cause physical symptoms and/or require medication it's good to see if there's any maladjusted thought patterns or a negative core belief underlying it - both of which can be changed. Anything that the brain can learn (even going back to childhood), the brain can unlearn.

It changed my life at 360 degrees! My baby is an autist, and sometimes he cannot deal with the pain and anxiety. The only form I could give him CBD oil is teddy gummies that he adores so much. You cannot believe how his mood changed, and the pain disappeared instantly. Also, I prefer to use the oil before sleep, anointing my temples after I sleep like a baby, haha. Weed is a better version for adults if you feel exhausted or willing to try something new. Sometimes I mess up things, and weed helps me forget for a while and let my body be in harmony with itself. If you want to try, pay attention to weed sizes and quality. Buy from trusted dealers that sell natural marijuana.

If you feel that you have very strong anxiety and even have depressive thoughts, it is best to see a doctor, because it can be a serious problem. However, if you just need to support the mental state, then I can advise Delta 8 THC. This is an excellent supplement, the form of which you can choose depending on what will be more convenient to take. It helps to calm down, relax and reduce stress levels.

plasatik · 16/05/2022 11:04

Let's be honest. There are only two ways to deal with depression - psychotherapy and taking antidepressants. Everything else is an attempt to improve the general health condition but not defeat the disease. I recently read about CBD oils at https://fithealthways.com. Yes, everyone is talking about how it is a great remedy for anxiety and sleep improvement. Understand that you won't defeat the disease but simply relieve the symptoms. If that's enough for you, then you can try CBD. But even so, I'd advise you to pay attention to psychotherapy.
