Grounding box

I suffer from depersonalisation and it has been really bad the last couple of days so I called the crisis support team and they were really good at bringing me back down. One of the things they suggested is to have a box of things I can touch and smell to help ground me. I have some lavender that I’ve put in but can’t think what else? Does anyone have any suggestions?

How about a scented candle, a photo of a loved one and some Bach's Rescue Remedy?

Hi @Pinkandpurplehairedlady, I also struggle with dissociation. I find really strong mints help. Also scented candles as the PP said.

something strong tasting, I have mints and chili crisps in mine. A fleece blanket, prayer beads (just something to fiddle with). Moisturiser. I have a picture of myself and my child taken recently so I can remind myself how old I am and where I am in my life now. Headphones so I can listen to music or a guided meditation on my phone. I also have a couple of comforting books to read and some colouring books and pencils. Also some cards I made myself that have phrases on them to help me ground

When DH had MH issues, someone on MN suggested having a big inhale of lime oil for grounding, it worked a charm.

Dd had one of these, she had in things like maltesers, scented candles, lavender essential oil, things to fiddle with (look up fiddle toys on amazon), light-up spiky balls, battery powered fairy lights, bean bag stress toy, notepad and pen, smooth ribbon, things like that.

I don’t get dissociation now I take escitalopram

Some good ideas here www.getselfhelp.co.uk/emergency.htm
Anything you like the feel off, maybe a list of mantras- quotes?
