I has been struggling for a while with low mood and more recently anxiety. So after feeling particularly anxious last night and being a nightmare I have plucked up the courage to ring the dr and am waiting for them to call back. Just want to cry today and feel exhausted but I am working

Well done. Hope you get what you need. It doesn't seem like it when you're in the middle of it but you will Flowerscome out the other side. Flowers

The Samaritans can help as well if you need someone to talk to in the meantime. ThanksSmile. Hope you're ok. It's really hard at the moment isn't it.

MrsBeltane · 06/01/2021 14:43

Well done. That's a massive step in the right direction. Please make sure you are totally honest when you speak to the GP.
Hopefully things might start improving soon, it won't be quick but stick with it.

Well done, tell the GP everything - nothing is silly 💐

Well done to you! Simply taking steps to improve the situation can make a difference to my outlook. Remember, they may not give a perfect response, that's okay. You are progressing.

My tipping point was when I woke my husband up at 1am, crying, to tell him we needed to get to the (totally unimportant) parade two hours early the next day so that we had a good view and if we didn't work out a plan of how to do that (right this moment!) my sister's visit would be ruined and I will have failed her. He very gently hugged me and said 'it is time to call the doctor'.

LindaEllen · 06/01/2021 14:50

Well done! I also plucked up the courage and am now on day 2 of sertraline as a result of doing so.

Remains to be seen if it'll make a difference, but I feel positive for the future.

You have done such a brave thing!!

Alfiemoon1 · 06/01/2021 14:52

They have called back and prescribed sertraline 50 mg so hopefully that will help

Sertraline is an amazing drug.

Cutting carbs really helps with anxiety too though. Sugar/glucose drives cortisol that drives anxiety.

How are you finding it LindaEllen

Exactly the same as me and same dose :). I'm on day 2 now so I'm not sure if side effects would have kicked in, but I'm okay! I take in the morning after food with loads of water. Felt a bit sick this morning but fairly sure that's to do with my anxiety of expecting side effects. Feel a bit spacey with a bit of a headache, and really struggled to get to sleep last night. But side effects should wear off as body gets used to it, and it's perfectly manageable at the moment! :)
weegiemum · 06/01/2021 15:08

Well done. I think admitting your feelings out loud to someone is the hardest step. Here's hoping your call back is good. You've got this!

PainterInPeril · 06/01/2021 15:11

Sometimes it's the taste of the tablets themselves that can cause nausea, or maybe that's just me! Flowers for everyone struggling with mental health issues! Hang on in there, we'll get through it. Tiny step by tiny step. Xxx

Hi there , just to reassure you guys that are on sertraline that it’s wonderful and won’t take long before your feeling much better . Try not to worry about the side effects I worried and they never came at all . I was on them for about 4/5 months last year and they really helped xx

Alfiemoon1 · 06/01/2021 15:39

Thank you everyone I have been on sertraline before a few years ago and it was ok my daughter has been on citralapram for a few months but I didn’t get on with them

I often feel down in the winter when it's so dreary and all I have to do is work; so I'm sure the weekend off will help you a lot!

And the meds should definitely help when you can pick them up :).

Yeah the weather isn’t helping currently wfh and it’s dark when I finish planning on taking the dog for a long walk tomorrow that always perks me up

Yeah exercise can be great, but it's so tough when the weather is just pants! X
