I'm feeling really sorry for myself :(

I've been an inpatient for 8 weeks now and I'm sectioned, today moved onto section 3. I won't be going home for Christmas and I'm heartbroken. With covid I don't even know if I'll get leave anyway but section 17 would only give me a day at home.

The thought of it is breaking my heart and making me spiral even further. I spent last Christmas in here too (went home in Feb) but was able to go home for 5 days over Christmas. They're saying home leave probably won't be possible due to covid.

I can't bear it. I have young DC and can't face the thought of not being there when they wake on Christmas morning. it's making me suicidal.

When I've been in I have often found talking with other patients helpful.

I’m very sorry OP how old are your kids?

JuiceyBetty · 21/11/2020 08:38

Under 10.

Yes, I've made friends on the ward which helps. I'm on the OCD program so we're a very tight knit bunch as we go through a lot in regards to exposure together.

I’ve a 9 year old OP I’m very sorry it’s hard with little ones. I was treated for OCD disorder too. Nothing like your experience but I have a tiny tiny idea of what that’s like. I’m thinking of you x from Dublin

I’ve not used a dongle myself but have tethered my iPad to my phone and used mobile broadband that way. It sounds like you can do it with only 3G. This explanation might be clearer than the one above:

Thanks both. @Eloisedublin123 did it help?

Yes I git a lot of counselling and 10 years later still see the same counsellor every 2 weeks. Do you have the opportunity to speak to a counsellor?

chickychicchic · 23/11/2020 12:57

I'm so sorry like another poster said when I was younger my mum had bad physical health and had one maybe more Christmas's in hospital and although I remember visiting and opening presents with her it doesn't stand out as a bad Christmas

Most important for your DC is having a mummy who is healthy and can come home and hopefully stay home

Wishing u well xx

That's so kind, thank you @chickychicchic

@Eloisedublin123 I have an absolutely fantastic therapist who I see weekly. Couldn't cope without her!

Also have tons of support in here- see my consultant 3 times a week for 20 mins, have daily exposure sessions for 30 mins with a trainee therapist, and see my in-patient therapist 3 times a week for an hour too.
