I have had terrible insomnia (an hour a night) : / My Mirtazapine has conked out on me and it is sending me manic and agitated. It is really affecting my mental health now; I also have autism, so I obsess and get very depressed when no sleep. I have a telephone appointment with psychiatrist later this week. I really want to try low dose Quetiapine. The GP says she can't prescribe it. Psychiatrist can, I think. Any Quetiapiners out there tell me about it?

The trazodone was utter shite hahahaa. It made me even more agitated and I even had a nasty auditory hallucination on it. Never again! The only thing that is working is the Zopiclone and that is only prescribed to get me through this episode! x

Quentiapine does help with sleep, though many nights I still don't sleep. I take 250mg at night and another 50mg in the morning, I am also on Mirtizapine 45mg but it doesn't have a sleepy effect on me either. I've been on the mirtizapine about 10 years, quentiapine a lot longer,

Hi OP i commented before about having the exact same problem. They tried me on both trazodone and amitriptyline and neither worked for me eithwr , that's why 4 years later in still stuck with total insomnia. Did they not want to prescribe the qutipine?

Coming off Q was horrific for me. I was on various doses between 200-700mg over the years. It's highly addictive and as is also a antihistamine .... so if you miss a dose or go cold turkey you get a massive reaction. I itches with awful hives for 5 after coming off it. Then my step pattern was truly destroyed. It's been about 6-7 years and to this day I still can't sleep properly unless I take something. I would give ANYTHING for one 8 hours of undisturbed good quality sleep. I also have tardive dyskinesia from it and that really affects me even this long on. My thought process has been permanently muddied too. I think it's prescribed far too easily and it's scarred me so badly that i now treat my bipolar symptoms holistically and try to avoid long term medical intervention. I am on a low dose of amytryptaline for nerve pain and when I'm manic I take sleeping pills and when I'm depressed I do whatever I can... practice mindfulness etc and be kind to myself.

I’ve been on 50 to 100mg of Q for 8 years exclusively for insomnia. Always does the trick for me. don’t get any ‘hangovers’ in the morning, didn’t put on weight.
But if I don’t take it, I don’t sleep at all.
Not sure if that is still the insomnia or my system needing the Q.
Don’t really care so long as I get a great sleep tbh.
Doc doesn’t seem to have any issues with it being prescribed off label for sleep (was originally prescribed by Pdoc now is my GP).

I wanted to say that Olanzapine saved my life! I was diagnosed Bipolar. Quetiapine did not suit me at all

I ended up on Olanzapine. QUetiapine did not work for me as it gave me restless leg. Olanzapine mostly helps me sleep at 10mg
