Sertraline - will it work?

Hi all sorry for yet another sertraline thread but I need some reassurance. Been on it now nearly 4 weeks and whilst I'm a bit better than I was at the start, I'm nowhere near back to normal. Still no appetite until evening, high anxiety and feeling shaky. Was on 50mg for 2 weeks and been on 100mg for about 10 days... is this going to work? Sad

Ach, pet, sending a supportive hug your way. Are you getting any relief/improvement? Everyone is different and the docs are there to help individuals find their best way forward and type of treatment. I think you need to give it to 6 weeks, especially since you're on a new dose. Are you also on beta blockers? If not I think you need them (following consult with Dr of course) as they will help with the appetite and shakiness.

You will find your way and don't forget that the current situation will be making it a bit harder to feel ok but this situation will also pass in a while.

Oh and if I've learned one thing since I fell apart it's that constant reassurance is an absolute need so don't hesitate to keep asking and asking for it from everyone till you don't need it anymore.

It sounds like it already is working a bit? It takes a while to kick in though as you know and you may need a higher dose. That said, it could be that a different AD would work better for you- I went through about 4 different ones before I found the right one for me. Hang on in there. Deep breathes and all that Flowers

@Happyspud thanks so much for your kind post.

There has definitely been improvement from where I started (couldn't get much worse tbh!!!) but I'm getting myself all worked up that this is as good as it's gonna get and it's not great...

When did you start feeling better?

Honestly OP I had a very quick turnaround from a very sudden and unexpected crash. I felt horrific with very bad physical symptoms for about 4 days, then had some good patches to the 2 week point and then have felt more myself than not since. Big improvement being around 4 weeks in. But my sister who is a GP says that I bounced extremely quickly and the vast majority of people experience a much more gradual progress. X

My DD found that it took a while for the side effects to settle down and for her to start feeling better.

I hope you start to feel a bit better soon.
