Crisis/home treatment teams

Hi, I am curious to know how severe symptoms have to be for the home treatment team to get involved with someone? Is this something that a relative can request on behalf of someone?

I'm asking because a friend of mine with schizoaffective/bipolar disorder is experiencing (what I think is a pretty severe) manic episode because they didn't take their medication for a few weeks, and they visit her twice a day to administer medicine.

I'm supporting my friend, and I guess I'm trying to understand how it all works. Thanks.

They are the last point before hospital treatment- so if your friend would be unsafe if they didn't take their meds, then it's totally appropriate for them to support

Sorry just to add the best way to get the support would be to either contact their key worker or GP. The GP can ensure an assessment is done within 48hrs.

Thank you Purpleframes, this is what I suspected. Thanks for your advice.Smile
