Hi, I suffer from panic attacks and general anxiety. Just wondering if you suffer from panic attacks what are your symptoms and how do you try and get through it??

I get an upset stomach, dizzyness, over breathing, the shakes and my jaw seizes up, mentally I feel like everything is hopeless, that these feelings will never pass and really scared.

Bach rescue remedy helps and so does controlled breathing, i'm also try to write a diary and rationalise my thoughts.

Just wanted to see if there's anyone else out there with panic attacks!

I used to get these - and i would feel physically sick and start to heave. I am now on anti d's and haven't had an attack since!

It can be a sign of depression - do certain things trigger your attacks?

Hi, i've been on seroxat for 8years now and yes I also have bouts of depression! I know a few people who also suffer from panic attacks but mine tend to be quite severe and last quite a while. Think alot of it's my mindset.

I gave birth six weeks ago and had such a severe panic attack on Sunday that I had to be hospitalised - was given diazapam to calm me down which I've been on ever since. I'm off to the docs tomorrow to discuss it with him. The frustrating thing is that I am definitely not depressed!

I started to see a hypnotist on Monday - he said to me that he doesn't think that people have panic attacks when they breathe properly. It took £135 to work that one out!!! All I can say at the moment is that if you feel your throat or chest tighten, breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth nice and slowly. Breathe your way through it. It's not that easy I know as I'm going through it myself, but you need to tell yourself YOU'RE in control, not your damned mind. I'm totally with you. I hate it

when I have a panic attack the most intense part lasts for about 2 or 3 mins when I will dry heave, can't speak, overbreathe, have palpitations, feel like I'm not breathing, shake and feel like I'm going to die basically but then for maybe up to two hours I feel shaky and worn out.
They suck big time
I was seeing a psych about 2 years for them and have decided that they are getting worse and will be making an app to go back
I'm on paroxitine and that is helping,
I also use bach remedy which helps

I suffer from panic attacks sometimes, and mine start as a very churned feeling in my stomach, which quickly leads to my heart racing, my breathing becoming more rapid, dizziness, and a feeling of needing to get away from wherever I am quickly.
They normally only last a few minutes, but it seems like a long time while you're suffering.

Rescur remedy helps calm me down, as does trying to control my breathing.

I suffer from these from time to time and yes they are horrible. I decided that I would try and remember that it was just a panic attack and would pass, so just as I got that fizzy feeling in my head - I made a conscious effort to think 'this is a panic attack it will pass'. I still had the attack as I think that without meds they have to run their course. However I coped much better. Fresh air is a help as I was in the car (not driving !) and rolled down the window, it kind of snapped me out of it a bit.
They are terrible and I would not wish them on my worst enemy. Rescue remedy spray is a good one or 2 mg Diazepam. Take one the second you feel it starting and you feel a bit drunk and relaxed.

Sound like me calebsmum. Your symptoms sound exactly the same as mine. I have just come of escitalopram 20mg which did help however the panic and anxiety is starting to creep back .

My GP wanted me off them (only on them for 6 months) as I was getting acid reflux which they suspect was because of the AD's (no idea why).

I am trying out new things atm before going back to doc.
