Hospital admission

It's looking increasingly likely that I'll be admitted as a voluntary patient very soon.
I have been struggling a lot lately with hypomania. I have dx's of EUPD/PTSD & GAD and I also suffer from a restrictive eating disorder.

I have lost almost 10kg since beginning of May..partially due to the hypomania and being physically unable to stop (walking 15+ miles daily) and very limited calorie intake (between 2-400, rarely above and if it is, I self induce vomiting..gross, I know)

Please, please can anyone give any advice as to what I can expect as inpatient? I'm terrified! But I am equally aware that it's much better for me to go voluntarily as they will section me otherwise.

I have 2 kids at home. They need me! Luckily my husband is still working from home, but I've been a SAHM for the last 10 years..I've always been there! Sad

I hope you get better soon OP

I'm sorry you were failed by services. I ended up in hospital because they decided to reduce my meds, luckily the hospital psych reinstated my old meds as she'd fought for me to stay on them. I'm thinking about complaining, don't know if I've got the strength.

Can you eat even if you don't feel hungry? I also hate hospitals, but it's better to go voluntarily than by section.

Oh OP, it sounds like you might be coming to the right conclusion. I hope that you're able to get treatment as quickly as you feel able to and are on the road to feeling much better very soon.

Sorry they failed you first time round, although I can really understand that this happens.
But, there there now if you need them.
Do you feel is the ED that’s the trigger for the help your getting from them all ?

How can you have energy when your hardly eating? Do you crash ever? I mean like your using the adrenaline but not fuelling it with food so do you get tired, irritable?
Only asking as with my anxiety as said, when it’s high I literally can’t eat have adrenaline going through my body but I’m knackered because of no food and energy trying to get through the day.
Mind you I’m probably much older than you.

Did you find you had a battle trying to get under secondary care? I did, and then it seemed forever at the beginning getting any help. Are you seeing them weekly?

I know what you mean about hospital’s now, but at the time when I was very unwell I wanted to go in !!! Probably wouldn’t of lasted an hour as I’m quite a reserved Person.

How you coping with your anxiety?

You’ve not gone in yet and it’s days now so your doing very well.

@granadagirl, I'm 36.
I get very irritable and physically am exhausted but the mania is driving me.
Today I've totalled 176cal so I really think tomorrow morning will be a struggle. I can feel my body slowing a little more each day.

I was initially under IAPT and having CBT, but they soon realised my 'issues' were far too complex for them to help with. I was then referred to the crisis team. It was from there I managed to get under the secondary team and I was assigned a care coordinator (I'm now on my 4th who seems the most pro-active).

Keep fighting for secondary. We soon found if you don't shout loud enough, you won't get heard. Best wishes.
