Setraline

Hi all,
I've been on 50mg Settaline for around 3-4 weeks now (swapped from citalopram which I was on for 2.5 years but made me so numb and stopped working) and although my racing and intrusive thoughts seem to have settled, I'm feeling extremely tired at times as well as being on a short fuse and getting irritated easily at times - which I think the tablets are causing as I never used to be like this.

I take in the morning and was wondering if anyone can relate, should I take it nearer bedtime? x

What time of day do you all take?

Hi, I started on 50mg in the New Year. Was taking it in the morning as it seemed to cause insomnia. However, by week 3 or 4 , started to feel really tired like you. Psychiatrist told me to switch to evening and it was a lot better. Now on 100mg and take it in the evening.
Drug takes a while to build up into your system. Present situation may be adding to your irritability as well. Wishing you well x

Thanks Ladybron, that's very helpful.
Did you just switch from morning to night the next day?
I haven't taken it today yet as I'll take it before bed tonight and see how I go.

How many weeks did it take for you to fell better on it.
Sorry all the questions.
Thanks for your help. x

Sertraline can cause insomnia also. I take mine around 4 in the afternoon. I feel a bit tired in the evening but have gotten used to it now.

Once I started feeling inexplicably tired in the day, I think I just switched to the evening the next day.
I think I felt an inner calmness, rather than any dramatic change probably by week 4.Now I feel more in equilibrium- less mood swings. Definitely less anxiety even with lockdown.
How did it go taking it last night Kion? x

Thanks @jogalong and @ladybyron

Yeah it went well actually, thanks for asking.
I had some strange dreams but I was getting them anyway, and I also felt quite groggy this morning, but overall a good day. I felt more calm in situations when I would usually feel irritated. Early days still but fingers crossed that nighttime works. Really hope so.

It's good to know @ladybyron about the calmness, that's exactly the way I'm going to be. Glad it's helped you. x

Just seen this - take mine at night and did get weird dreams to start with but the subsided. Hope it's going well for you.

Kion · 11/05/2020 20:50

Thanks @Frlrlrubert. It's going ok so far although I'm feeling so groggy and tired in the mornings. Not sure if it's because I'm sleeping better or worse 🤷🏼‍♀️ but I'll keep going with it as I feel a bit better during the day, although I did have a bit of a crisis of confidence earlier. It's hard to know if these are helping me fully or not.

I remember many years ago when I tried citalopram for the first time and it was absolutely amazing. For the first time in my life I felt 'normal' and not overthinking everything and negatively. But this time more recently taking citalopram and then the setraline, I've never quite reached that feeling again. I'm not sure if I'll ever get to that point again. Maybe this is good enough!?

Can anyone relate to this. Just not know what to do. But I'll keep going a while yet on the setraline in the hope it gets better. x
