Anyone else quite like to see their therapist now?

But obviously can't! I've not seen her for a while but what's going on now is the sort of thing I'd go back to see her for! Not sure how it would work anyway as usually you see a therapist/counsellor for an issue unique to you but everyone is going through it, and they're self employed so probably in a worse place than some people!

Could you have a telephone appointment?

parrotonmyshoulder · 28/03/2020 19:10

I’m having phone appointments, which are fine

Hotcuppatea · 28/03/2020 19:13

Are they offering video sessions? If so, go for it. They obvs aren't the same, but they really are OK.

bucketofgin · 28/03/2020 19:48

I’m seeing mine on Skype. It’s not the same but is better than nothing!

Your experience is still unique to you, and it’s totally ok to want to see your therapist to help you through it.

I'm continuing seeing mine online (not Skype but a video).

Everybody experiences bereavement, relationship changes etc at some point and some people go to counselling. Same with many other situations. This is no different.

MajesticWol · 28/03/2020 19:58

See if she is doing telephone or videocall appointments.

I’m a counsellor and I’m working this way.

Yes the situation is hard for us too, but we have good support networks with colleagues and Supervision. We are still able and willing to help others, so please don’t put off getting help for yourself by worrying about your therapist’s well-being.

Me. But face-to-face, on the bed, in her office.

Telephone sessions are not working for me at all. It's actually possibly making things worse at the moment.

I am very quickly losing my shit left, right and centre as well.

I would be clinging to his legs like a koala if I could. I am not coping with this lockdown shit.

TigerDroveAgain · 28/03/2020 20:23

Mine is doing sessions through Zoom, you have to find somewhere private to speak but it’s pretty good

Saranvenya · 28/03/2020 20:26

Message her she may offer Skye, phone etc.
I've worked online and f-2-f for years and both work very well.
I've transferred my face-2-face clients at this point and have to say I'm having some real positive feedback, I think if its done gently it would be worth trying.

Craftycorvid · 28/03/2020 20:32

Another therapist here and, yes, I’m offering phone and Skype counselling at present. It does bring a few challenges but it’s a way of keeping in touch. I’m having phone sessions with my own therapist, which I’m finding a bit odd as I’m used to his presence, but it’s much better than no contact at all.

Namechangemom123 · 28/03/2020 20:54

Thank you everyone for your replies, especially the therapists points of view, I feel better asking for a phone session now.

And I'm sorry for those struggling, I hope things improve Flowers

MysteriesOfTheOrganism · 28/03/2020 23:24

I'm doing video calls with all my clients. Not as good as face-to-face, much better than telephone and infinitely better than no contact!
