When to go to A&E?

My 15 daughter is suffering from very low mood and suicidal thoughts. She is very distressed and agitated right now, saying she feels scared and unsafe (the house has been completely proofed and she is not being left along so is safe).

I just don’t know if we should go to A&E or not. On hold on 111.

Yes they like them to be home treated, that way they don’t become reliant on just feeling safe in hospital and when ready for discharge don’t won’t to go because there scared not being in hospital environment
She should be followed up with care in the community like a Cpn or someone to chat too once a week.
Have they suggested anything, or putting anything in place for after discharge?
You also need to speak up for her, otherwise it will be left to YOU and they may say GP

Glad she slept, depression just drains you even when your actually not even doing anything and what you do manage to do is such an effort

I personally wouldn’t take her to a&e. Most likely you’ll be sat for ages waiting, and it will probably be busy. You’ll probably get to see psychiatric liaison there.
Make an urgent appointment with your GP, contact your local crisis team (CRHT) and get her to self refer to talking therapies.
Good luck, hope she feels better soon.

Another thought
If you go on mind.org, in the top right corner is the menu click on that and go to
Help & support
If you scroll to the bottom of page there’s a section for young people
Quite a lot of info for you and dd to read
Have a look, it may help for her to understand at her feelings etc

We are having home treatment coming once a week from the i2i team, they will be working with her on lots of strategies.

Full CAHMs assessment will take a while so we will continue with private as well and know that it is a long road but we will get there.
