Hi all,

My partner has been diagnosed with OCD since last jan. It was a long road to get the diagnoses. He was deeply depressed and low, admitted this to me. We worked together to get him the right help . Gp visits, various tablets, psychiatric referral and finally OCD diagnoses and he started CBT. he was doing well with it, then she suggested that instead of ignoring the intrusive thoughts.. let them happen. Well for 3 weeks he was plunged back into the depths of despair. I would ask him daily 0-10 how he was feeling. Some days he was as low as 3. I was really worried. He has been on antidepressants now for nearly 3 weeks, which is starting to improve his mood and hes slowly getting his appetite back.

He has been researching about ocd and I think now is starting to understand it more and had re started the cbt from the beginning on the drs advice, taking things slower. Which Is helping. He still has low days and makes me want to cry seeing a usually happy outgoing man so low.

We have 2 children (3, 8 months). So trying to gold everything together. He is the sole earner in the house, which I'm sure adds pressure.

What my question is really.. is how can I help him as a partner? If you suffer from ocd what help could your partner offer. He doesn't like to talk about the thoughts as they are not nice.

Any advice how I can support him through this would be great fully received xx
