I just wanted to put a thread on about positive mental health care on the NHS it does exist.

I’ve been under the MH services since 2018 when I made several attempts on my life and was admitted for 3 months. I was discharged in community care with the diagnosis of CPTSD with emotional dysregulation.
I’ve been under the care cmht since and been under shared care on occasions when I have retried to kill myself.
I see my cco every two weeks, have DBT weekly and a one to one with my DBT therapist. I will hopefully get trauma therapy if I can stay free of self harm for six months.
I just wanted to highlight good care is out there and the nhs is not terrible everywhere

What is DBT? I'm going to have a look at what it is, I'm always interested in mental health/psychology because I too have been a self harmer for 10+ years. Have gradually gone from cutting twice a week to once every six months or so but the urge is so hard sometimes. Everytime I get upset, it's definitely not the normal kind of upset, it's more like devastation or I'm about to die...I can't explain it. I feel incredibly sad and think of suicide at times but I never want to die or plan anything ... I don't have the nerve to go through with it. I'm on meds now but they don't work sometimes, I have just had a baby so I'm wondering if that's what it is? Hormones flying around making me crazy. How did you get therapy through NHS?? It's so unfair that it's not available as it should be they only take people seriously if they've tried to jump off a building it seems and not the people thinking about it :( sorry that was not a shot at you btw.....

OP posts pro-NHS thread..... 1st response makes a dig at service provision 🤦🏽‍♀️ This may not go as you wanted OP Grin

Probably not.
DBT is dialectical behaviour therapy it’s a year long course after which I can have trauma therapy.
I think I’ve been lucky

I did get good care for the start with but I guess I am a chronic so care at the moment is minimal.
