How to make him understand that I have inattentive ADHD and am NOT depressed or just a busy/run down mum?

I’ve printed off some the lists of symptoms and have also written down my own symptoms.

Any other suggestions? Can he (if he believes me Hmm) diagnose me there and then?

It’s strange how people think they can tell a medical professional what their diagnosis is.

Would you do the same to a cardiologist, or would you let them do their job?

By all means tell the psychiatrist what you think you have. But also allow them to do their own assessment and diagnosis.

And, no, an ADHD diagnosis is very unlikely to be given like that. Any diagnosis takes time, and assessment, and often specific tests.

That’s a really fair point Paddy.

I suppose it’s just because I’ve struggled my whole life and eventually everything makes sense to me and it’s just frustrating not to be taken seriously. And it’s a common complaint.

I always challange a HCP if I don't think they've reached the right conclusion. If I hadn't have challenged and gone against the advice of two GPs and a HV my dd wouldn't be alive. If I hadn't have challenged the treatment given to my father by his GP then he would've died.
It's good to challange things you don't think are right/ not sure of, it doesn't have to be in a confrontational way, you just gently put forward your thoughts and arguments.

I do agree Curtains. I think if all else fails I’ll just need to go private and really research someone knows a lot about inattentive ADHD rather than just having to take the doctor they provide Sad

If I were you'd I'd bring up your thoughts about possibly having ADHD at the beginning of your appointment, have bullet point of symptoms you feel you fit and some reasons why you don't think you're just depressed/run down.

I wish you luck, it must be incredibly frustrating.
