Home remedies for treating depression?

Hello,

I have recently been prescribed sertraline and reacted awfully to it. I know the usual symptoms will gradually fade but felt so awful on them (dizziness, light headed, nausea 24/7, constant dry mouth). I wandered if there was a natural or as natural as possible way to treat depression?

It started with PND, I ultimately feel okay of this now and having DS seems so much easier now he's got a little bit older. But I know it's mostly time of year related as I never feel like this in spring/summer.

Is there any natural and at home things I can do that would help alleviate symptoms of depression? I know it's not severe so feel as though I can try to do as much h as I can without medication.

TIA Grin

Natural remedies?

Getting out and about and doing stuff
Exercising - a 1-hour workout every day does wonders for your mood and self-esteem
Cultivating friendships
Meetups and going for walks
Volunteering with charities that mean something to you

Some people swear by St. John's Wort, though I haven't tried it myself.

But ADs have their uses. Having done tons of research, I opted for Cymbalta, which I found very effective and well tolerated.

I don’t know much about MH aside from my own, but I self-medicated with hobby escapism - spent the best part of two years playing a particular online game. Not healthy, but it helped me.

Other things that helped - reduce sugar intake, stop alcohol, start regular exercise...

I think there’s stuff like St. John Wort but it requires proper advice before taking.

Hope you feel better, OP Flowers

Yes, St John's Wort, but do your research on it.

Psychotherapy, exercise, good diet.

Sometimes, though, there is no replacement for an anti-depressant, and if one doesn't work, then you can be prescribed another.
