Does anyone else suffer from this, where you'll be just getting on with your day and thoughts of things that have happened occur that it's hard to move on from?

Can anyone explain the difference between ocd thoughts and other intrusive thoughts? From your experience x

I wonder if anyone has ever stopped? I've accepted it's always going to happen but worked on tools to deal with it. Be nice to escape my own head

I definitely notice a decline in my mental health right before my period. Especially the intrusive thoughts of suicide.

What has helped?

@feathermucker I struggle with intrusive thoughts. My lo is 6 weeks old and I feel like I've been struggling with them more recently. Sometimes I just try to disregard them - to not give them any weight, because sometimes the more I worry about them and try to come up with strategies to avoid hurting myself, the more it ends dominating my thoughts.

Other times I use cbt and remind myself that right here, right now, I am okay.

I'm sorry you're struggling ❤️

I go through peaks and troughs with my anxiety. Sometimes, its crippling and other times, its manageable.

Hard to distract myself as my mind wanders back to the thoughts.

@feathermucker, it can be so hard to try and avoid the thoughts. They like to keep popping up. Some times I find it helpful to do something, which isn't always possible depending on where I am/the situation. Knitting is helpful for me, I'm not very good at it, but it occupies my hands and keeps my mind focused. Sometimes I snap a hair tie on my wrist. Maybe something similar could be helpful for you.
