Support thread (for those who aren't having the most wonderful time of the year)

I've been getting good support on this board- other posters had provided valuable advice. The idea here is to do something a bit more informal and just check in with each other and maybe make some solidarity pals as we battle the black hole of mental illness, family, life and NHS 'support' services.

Take care everyone

@erinaceus I’m glad to hear that things have improved since the separation.

@PurpleFrames thank goodness things are getting better with your family. Hope those family relationships continue to strengthen in 2020. Do they know about your suicidal thoughts? Fingers crossed for you that you have someone you can talk to in RL.

It sounds like your XH went to town on your MH / what an utter shit.

erinaceus · 02/01/2020 06:10

Thanks folks. It was horrible at the time but for the best in the long run.

@PurpleFrames Ride the waves don't drown in them kindly, you are needed on this thread.

I go back to work today after a break over Christmas. Anyone else doing the same?

NeverGuessWho · 02/01/2020 07:07

@erinaceus
Are you looking forward to going back to work? Hope you have a good day.
I have another few days off.

erinaceus · 02/01/2020 07:16

Yes yes very much so RE going back to work, but my mood is going a bit quickly, camomile tea at the ready and understanding colleagues. I'll go home again if I can't manage without being too disruptive.

I am beyond lucky with my employer.

PurpleFrames · 02/01/2020 08:40

@NeverGuessWho
I haven't spoken to them about suicidal thoughts because I know they would get upset. But the tell-tale, told them and also I have been hospitalised before so they know to a certain extend it's just not all out there 'in the open'. Thank you x

What are your plans for the next few days off?

@erinaceus
I hope your day back goes well. Do you get a bit hyper? It sounds like you have a great working environment there x

@PurpleFrames A bit hyper is one way to put it(!) I sometimes use the language of psychiatry to describe by symptoms and call it hypomania.

How are you doing today?

👋🏼 everyone.

erinaceus · 04/01/2020 12:18

*my symptoms not by symptoms

PurpleFrames · 04/01/2020 13:24

Hi @erinaceus no offence intended at all! That was probably an insensitive way to phrase what I meant, I'm sorry.

I'm having to travel a long distance and resettle in my house after being away for a few weeks at my family home. It's a bit anxiety provoking but I'm doing well so far the car part of the journey is almost over

Hope everyone is doing well x

Offended? No, I did not think you were being insensitive. I guess I was trying to express that in the language of psychiatry I think that when I go a bit quickly it is part of some sort of mood cycling rather than, for example, a response to everyday stress, if that makes sense. Or at least I think so, I've an appointment next month to get this checked out.

How are you doing now? I'm supposed to be at work today but will be WFH, I have a lot of flexibility like that.

It's good you have an appointment to review those things.

I had one this morning - feel totally shattered. Just want to crawl into bed.

Also had a bit of disappointment as a group I attend had an AGM, I put forward some ideas but they were all vetoed (even a really good one!). Made me feel a bit like I am valued less by the group than j thought if that makes sense...,

Hope you are good x

Hey Purple 👋🏼

How are things? I’ve got a lot going on this week, and am managing only just. How about you?
