Hi, the title says it all really! I’m the doc gave me prescription for pain some time ago...it was Naproxen. Since then my pain has returned. I wouldn’t go and get the prescription and take it without seeing my doctor, but wondered if anyone knows if I’ll be able to? Thanks in advance x

Yep no problem, it's an anti-inflammatory. You can also take paracetamol on top if you need it, but don't take ibuprofen (inc using gels etc)

Thanks so much! I’m going to bits the bullet and make an appointment rather than suffer!

I've been taking them both together for over 12 months

Thank you....are they helping? (The naproxen)

My GP told me I could only take paracetamol. The leaflet in the meds pack said similar so I've never taken anything other than paracetamol.

Both can affect your stomach so I wouldn't take them close to each other. Also take with food.

If the pain is from inflammation, naproxen is brilliant. I only came off it relatively recently due to a shortage and swapped to another drug in the same class. I take tricyclics, but DP has both citalopram and naproxen. She also then has Zapain on top of that.

They definitely can be taken together - lime if you were advised against it, then it must be for a reason specific to you

Yy to take with food - also if you're taking it long term your GP will prob prescribe something to take to protect your stomach too
