Don't think any/many of you saw my thread yesterday, but I had a session with my therapist yesterday, and he basically agreed with my suspicisions that I have a mild degree of Aspergers Syndrome. I don't want to go for any formal diagnosis as I don't think it would confer any benefits and depressed/OCD mum is enough to be going on with! Am feeling a bit wobbly about the whole thing, and I suppose concerned for what it might mean for DS; i.e. how do I teach him to have better social skills than I possess. DH is being very blase - doesn't see it as an issue, particularly given that I had suspected it anyway (and thinks his cold is much more important!)

sorry for moaning

morning all! feeling a lot better today. DH saw this thread accidentally last night and was absolutely mortified - he hadn't realised how upset I was. In terms of the OCD, MIAM - much much better; the thoughts are still there to a certain extent, but have very little impact on my day to day life. I'm going to be continuing Prozac for the next few years at least anyway to maintain things and prevent a relapse.

MTS, so glad you are feeling better this morning. It's good your dh saw the thread, am sure that has contributed to your improved wellbeing this morning. The fact that he wasn't taking you seriously must have hurt.

I have been feeling a little bit down the last week or so. Am pretty sure it is the winter creeping up. Nothing I can put my finger on at the moment (no panic attacks etc) but just feel a little bit slower and like everything takes that little bit more effort. I hate winter .

Morning MTS. SO glad you're feeling a bit better today. Even more glad that your dh has read this thread and now knows exactly how you feel. I'm sure that he will be supportive now that he has read this thread.

So glad you are feeling a little better today MTS. Dont know if I have told you, but I am always so impressed by the advice you give to others, and the amount of time and thought that must go into your postings. So thank you for being you.

Hi everyone, and thanks for the compliments MIAM

Kayleigh - have you ever thought of using a lightbox to help with the depression?

having now caught the same cold as DH I am feeling more sympathetic to DH given that I am too knackered to be worried about Aspergers
still guess that is a good sign!

Kayleigh · 30/09/2004 11:57

I'll vouch for MTS. Definitely a she. ANd a very nice one at that.

MTS, have heard of lightboxes for depression - especially SAD but not thought about it for myself. Might be worth looking into. Do you know anything about them ? Costs etc ? Or should i start a thread ?!

Vouching for MTS as have met HER!

I always get depressed in the winter and last year went on a sunbed once a month and it was great felt like heat and sun and made my skin feel good in the winter. Must say I will do it again this year.

MUMINAMILLION · 30/09/2004 21:02

Never doubted it for a second! Hope you are feeling well MTS.

Hi all, feel a bit funny coming back to this one, but thought I had better follow this up as it were.

When I went to see my therapist last week he backtracked a bit on the whole Aspergers issue - said he meant it was more a possibility that I had it, than a definite thing, and that he felt I had some Aspergers traits, but didn't have anywhere near the level of difficulties as other patients he had seen with definite diagnoses.

so i guess it has all become a bit of a non-issue being left in uncertainty like that so I'm just trying to forget about the whole thing really.

thanks for all the support girls.

Im so thick - I didnt realise you were MTS (!)
Glad you're feeling ok about it all. Sounds like your therapist should have been more careful with how he worded the whole thing.
(and Im also sure you're little boy will get the best possible start from you in all ways!)
