Changed to these from venlaflaxine yesterday, slept solid from 9pm to 6.30am had the shakes making kids breakfast and felt really out of it even had to get my husband to take the kids to school and then slept most of today :/

Does anyone have some positives about these drugs please as between the weight gain and zombie like state I've read about I'm not feeling too optimistic:(

i take both, along with another anti-depressant (vortioxetine) and pregablin. also pain meds and arthritis meds. oh, and thyroid meds.

what’s your diagnosis, if you don’t mind me asking? quetiapine is an anti-psychotic which is sometimes used for severe depression.

i went on mirtazapine a couple of years ago and although my other meds are sedating, this one knocked me flat for a good couple of weeks. i’ve been on quetiapine for about 7 years now, i was put on it in hospital after a breakdown, and they whacked it up to 300mg within about 10 days. i did 6 weeks on the psych ward, and gained 2.5 stone. i had to buy new clothes and everything. given my state of mind, i therefore lived in jogging bottoms for about the next 2 years!

i switched from venlafaxine to sertraline in the mornings, i don’t know when the evening mirtazapine showed up if i’m honest. i had to come off sertraline as it hated me, and my psych changed it to vortioxetine about a year ago, as it’s a new drug that shows good results in people with severe, treatment-resistant depression. it might work, i have no idea, i’m so sedated the entire time.

as you might have noticed, both mirtazapine and quetiapine are notorious for making you STARVING HUNGRY the entire time. i always try and look at it as better fat and functioning than skinny and suicidal.

the mirtazapine coma does wear off as you get used to it, give it a couple of weeks. i hope you start to feel better soon.

Quetiapine is well known for making you sleepy in the first 2-4weeks. I seem to be the only person in the world this doesn't happen to however! It's a really good med - just make sure to taper if you do end up having to come off it.

Have you fully tapered off venlafaxine? I ask as the side effects of coming off that drug can be horrendous, from first hand experience.
