Just to let you know I've been taking the tablets for almost 2 weeks now, and today is the first day I have felt them kicking in. Actually feel very calm - something I never am. I know prozac is not a cure and the depression is still lurking, but it gives me breathing space to put things back into focus, and hopefully manage my depression better.

So now I can concentrate on finishing 'that' book and hopefully supporting all of you.

Can't thank everyone enough for such fabulous advice and support when I felt so low, and also for the idea to start this topic. It will be such a help for so many people.

Am so glad you are feeling better . I agree with everything you say about using them to put things into focus. You will find you have a completely different perspective on things and that will enable you (and me!) to try and work on overcoming the triggers so that eventually we can do without the pills.

Have a lovely weekend. And enjoy.

MUMINAMILLION · 25/09/2004 11:14

Thanks ks. The book is a new line on CBT. It is called Good Mood by Julian L Simon. Im hoping it will help me manage my depression better, and I really feel hopeful about it. I'm going to keep everyone updated on what it is saying as I read it!!

Glad you're feeling so good, MIAM, long may it continue!!

PS every time I see your name shortened the way I have done it above I always read it as MIRIAM!

TraceyP · 25/09/2004 18:11

Glad you're feeling good MIAM, and thank you for your support. It's good that you feel that you're getting a bit of breathing space and getting back on track again. Love to you.

joanneg · 25/09/2004 18:24

MIAM that is great! You are such a great supporter of everybody else and are so lovely it is good that you are looking after yourself too. will be interested to hear how you get on with prozac (my doctor prescribed them to me last year but I was worried about taking them. glad you are feeling better

MUMINAMILLION · 25/09/2004 21:53

Thanks very much everyone. Joanneg - - you do know how to make me feel good! Traceyp - hope you are feeling on the up today. Miaou, I have HUGE problems with your name. Can never remember how to spell it - I think Ive told you that before!!

miam - reckon this thread will prove to be the most used!!!

peachypie · 25/09/2004 22:39

miam - thanks for your support recently with regards to depression, its made me realise that ads can be a help and like you said can give you breathing space to put things back into focus. if it takes a little tab to give myself a brighter focus and makes my emotions a little more on a even balance while i get through this difficult patch then i am going to stop being a martyr and go see the doc as soon as i get back in 1/52 and i want to thank you again for your support to me and am looking forward to your instalments on the book.x

MUMINAMILLION · 25/09/2004 22:48

peachypie, think Im going to cry!! Im so glad you are going to get help. The only thing that is crazy about us, is that we think it is crazy to get help!! Let me know how you get on.

Unicorn - I am so pleased that Mners feel they can find a use for this thread, it's just such a shame that so many need it. A sign of the times?

MIAM, thanks for asking, I'm a bit brighter today, had a mooch around the shops and a nice quiet coffee on my own this morning and just had a bit of breathing space which has helped. I think I'm just going to have to live with the ups and downs for a while until the medication really kicks in. So glad you're managing to be nice to yourself as well as to all of us here. I don't know about a Mum in a Million but you certainly are a woman in a million (and no, I'm not creeping, I'm telling it as it is).

yingers74 · 25/09/2004 22:54

muminamillion what do you mean a sign of the times?

peachypie · 25/09/2004 22:55

yingers i was wanting to know that too?

MUMINAMILLION · 25/09/2004 22:59

TracyP - all this flattery is certainly doing me no end of good!!! Im glad you have managed to have some time to yourself, and hopefully the 'little pills' will help you before long.

Sign of the times - oops, a little biblical reference. They slip out from time to time!

muminamillion a sign of the times as in matthew?

MUMINAMILLION · 25/09/2004 23:10

That's the one. Didnt apply hugely, but there we are all having pangs of distress.

Why do you ask????

OP posts:
peachypie · 25/09/2004 23:15

are you speaking the TRUTH?

MUMINAMILLION · 25/09/2004 23:16

OP posts:
peachypie · 25/09/2004 23:19

it was the repetition for emphasis quote on the other thread plus the other things you said.

MUMINAMILLION · 25/09/2004 23:20

What about yingers?

OP posts:
peachypie · 25/09/2004 23:22

MUMINAMILLION · 25/09/2004 23:23

D'you know, Ive often wondered. I didnt intentionally mean to leave a few hints around - I suppose these are expressions we tend to use all the time, and not many others do. Am so glad I did though!!! Can I CAT you?

OP posts:
peachypie · 25/09/2004 23:27

yes of course you can.
