I've been on 20mg for about 2 and a half years. Have forgotten to take it a few times lately, then ran out and couldn't get to pharmacy for a few days. Got some Friday so took one but forgot Saturday. Then last night I was about to take it before bed and just realised I've had no withdrawals and feel fine.. maybe I shouldn't bother? Was planning on coming off them anyway after my upcoming divorce as I feel better now than I have done in years an my GP agrees I probably dont need them and my depression was due to stressful circumstances.
Would I be an idiot to just not take them?
Not usually this forgetful but I have been very busy with work and kids last few weeks! A bit distracted.

Some people can handle it, but those I know who've suddenly stopped have been on it a short time compared to you. Sometimes 'withdrawal' symptoms with ssris can take a while to show up.
I've done it relatively quickly (over a couple of weeks, advised by GP) and had awful side effects, and I've done very very slow tapering down, with negligible side effects.
I don't want to put you off! These are drugs that have a very specific action on brain chemicals, and while I think there are probably standard withdrawal effects that everyone experiences, their severity will vary because everyone is different. I'd err on the side of caution but if you feel you're already part way down the road, you could wait and see. The only caveat would be that if you get some delayed effects that become problematic, you might have to be prepared to go back on them before reducing again.
Not sure if that's much help!

Yes you would be an idiot. Sorry. Book a GP appointment and if you decide you want to come off them, do it slowly with your GP’s advice.
