SAD support thread

Hey, so I get SAD really badly over autumn and winter and where the weather has shifted over the last few days I'm starting to get that niggly feeling. I've bought a cheap 10k lux lamp (with a view to upgrading it) and a huge supply of vitamin D3 but thought it may be nice to set up a thread of support for those who struggle with the change in season.

Over the summer I'm a totally different person, I'm smiley, active, energetic and driven to do stuff and then as soon as that weather changes all I want to do is cry, binge eat and lose my temper.

I'm determined to change this and see if I can get through a whole 12 months without having to go to the doctor for my mh. I know it'll be tough but it would be great to have some support.

Anybody with me?

Yes.
Some years are worse than others for me. I'm on meds for anxiety at the moment unrelated to SAD so I'm worried this winter will set me back.
I'm thinking a lamp may be a good idea.

It arrived today and I gave it a whirl. It's not as "in your face" as I expected and the D3 looks easily manageable. Fingers crossed this is the key to beating it. My dh loves autumn and winter but hates summer, so one of us is always feeling a bit crap. Last winter was ok, but I had just come out of a lengthy post-partum depression so not sure if it wasn't bad just by comparison. I've had a brilliant summer and feeling so happy and upbeat, but the black dog always feels like it's lurking around in waiting to pop back up.

Hopefully a bit of support will help as well.

@08cheesenpickles

Let us know how your mood is after a few days. Of course the real test will be when it's darker earlier but you may feel brighter before then.
