Hi guys,
Just wondering if anybody has any feedback about using ad Sertraline. I’m interested to hear feedback about how this has helped you..
I have been taking this now for 9 days - first few days were fine just felt a bit tired and now I seem to have more anxiety and somewhat weird thoughts... come and go!! Is this normal ?
And I guess maybe I’m wondering does this get better..?? Any ideas or thoughts about how this works would be greatly appreciated ☺️💖

Hi, I’ve been on sertraline for years now. Before that, citalopram. The sertraline I believe is helpful, yes. I feel much better on it than I do without it that’s for sure, you can tell my behaviour starts becoming erratic without it. I take it for depression, anxiety, ptsd and bpd. I take anxiety medicines along with it, and I have anxiety anyway, so I don’t know if that’s the pills or just me? I don’t think it gives me anxiety, it certainly helps to balance me. I do know you have to take it for a few weeks before it gets into your system properly but if it continues and you don’t normally have those symptoms I’d go back to doc and explain

I'm on Sertraline. I honestly felt like I was on some sort of high when I first took it (not in a good way), I felt very odd, my jaw was clenching a lot and I felt sick.

After a couple of days that stopped and I felt much better although I'm now hoping to up my dose.

I've been on it for two weeks now and nights are terrible. I wake up feeling anxious with my heart pounding. I'm hoping it settles down. I do feel better for being on it, calmer and not bursting into tears all the time.

I had sertraline from Dec 2016 for about 15 months and then restarted ADs last week but fluoxetine this time.

I remember starting sertraline and having some side effects, mostly jaw clenching, night sweats, reflux and nausea. The jaw clenching lasted around 2 weeks if I remember, the rest of the side effects never really went away for me. I’d try to take my tablet before bed to sleep through the nausea but ended up weaning off it after about a year.

I had it for post natal anxiety and it absolutely helped me with the physical symptoms of anxiety along with the intrusive thoughts. I’d still have the thoughts but I could rationalise them and the chest heaviness/breathlessness and panic attacks stopped entirely.

After being off all ADs for a year my anxiety flared again combined with some big life events hence my trip back to the doctor.

Oh and yes as PP I found it very difficult to sleep. As though I was wired. Only for the first few days-a week.

I felt spaced out for my first couple of weeks on Sertraline. But since then have been absolutely fine on it and it has helped.

I have to take it after food though as it gives me horrendous heartburn on an empty stomach.

Pretty much all ads will have some initial side effects but they will always settle down as your body gets used to them.

I had awful side effects with citalopram, but then was switched to fluoxetine and it suited me much better.

Then can sometimes make you feel a bit anxious and jittery, like you've had too much coffee, or can make you yawny and tired. But those side effects go away.

Stick with it if you can, but if you really can't speak to your doctor.
