Irrational anxious thoughts driving me mad

Does anyone have irrational anxious thoughts, heard them described as intrusive thoughts, that you know aren’t true but somehow shake from your head. Mine are based round my kids, that I’ll stop loving them or can’t enjoy time with them. Or that I’ve lost my bond and will never be the same....I’m on sertraline at the moment which is helping but would like to hear if anyone has experienced similar things ? Need some positivity X

All the time about many things!
I have to remember to challenge every single one and remind myself it's my illness, not me, and there is no rational reason it can be true.

I have horrible intrusive thoughts when I get stressed or anxious, telling me to do horrible things. Obviously I would never do these things & there's no risk to anyone, my psychiatrist is aware of these thoughts but to be fair I have trouble accepting that they're thoughts from my own subconscious.

I take high dose anti psychotics which help most of the time as I have schizoaffective disorder.

I'm not saying that you have a disorder like this but that strange thoughts can be brought on by anxiety & various meds can help.

Speak to your gp or psychiatrist if you have one.
It's not worth having to put up with the thoughts & the relief of getting rid of them is amazing.

I've had this, aswell as every other intrusive thought going. The thing is what we fear the most we ruminate over the most. I had to change my expectations of what I thought love was, I had to really understand that love wasn't a feeling as feelings come and go, I realised you don't look at adult children the same way you do a baby and love is simply always wanting the best for them, caring about them and fearing ever been without them. Ofcourse in the midst of intrusive thoughts we project our fears and they feel real, we equate the feeling of fear to meaning they are true. There is a lot of great self help online, if that's no use try CBT.
